The camera is not the measurement system. Calibration is.

Design principle

A photo alone is not enough to tell an M6 from a close imperial alternative. BoltLens starts with a known physical reference, then works forward from measured geometry.

Calibrate the frame

A printable calibration card establishes scale and lets the camera correct perspective before measurement begins.

Measure the geometry

Deterministic vision isolates the fastener and produces physical dimensions in millimetres—not a visual guess.

Validate before matching

Measured geometry is compared with reference standards only after the underlying accuracy checks hold up.

Boundaries are a feature

If confidence is insufficient, the result is not a guess.

Out of scope from an image alone

  • Material grade, strength class, alloy, torque, and safety suitability are not inferred from appearance.
  • When a thread needs more evidence, the workflow calls for a guided side-on image—not a forced classification.
